The agent of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has insisted there is no interest in the player’s signature despite reports linking with a move to Manchester United.
Benteke struggled to make an impact in the first half of the campaign, scoring just three times in 18 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 24-year-old has flourished since Tim Sherwood took over at the club, netting eight times in eight games to help Villa reach the FA Cup final.
His agent, Eris Kismet, insisted Benteke is focussed on Villa’s relegation battle and that he is not thinking about his future.
Speaking about the speculation, Kismet said: “At the moment there is no interest.
“Every player and staff member is concentrated on avoiding relegation, anything else is just a distraction.
“I know everyone wants the same thing because I watch the games and I think Aston Villa are playing the best football in England right now.”
Benteke is a quality player and one that should certainly be playing at a higher player than he currently is.
United could do worse than to bring him in, particularly as it looks increasingly likely that Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie will leave the club in the summer. With a world-class set of players behind him, Benteke could do some real damage in a United shirt.
