Javier Hernandez’s agent has confirmed Manchester United are powerless to stop the Mexican striker joining Real Madrid if the Spanish champions want to sign him before April 30.
Chicharito has spent the season on loan at Madrid and after an arduous season of cameo appearances, he has now cemented his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI having taken advantage of injuries to Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
Ancelotti described Chicharito’s place in his team as ‘non-negotiable’ as he has scored four goals in 15 days but Louis van Gaal has remained unmoved by his upturn in form, leading to further doubts as to whether he has a future at the club.
Now, his agent Eduardo Hernandez has made it clear Madrid have a buy option in their contract with Chicharito which United are unable to stop, so long as an undisclosed agreed fee is met.
“If Madrid accept to sign Chicharito before April 30th deadline, Manchester United can’t do anything,” Eduardo Hernandez said.
“After June, we will see the different options because I have had calls from other clubs asking about him.”
United may well be powerless to stop Chicharito’s potential transfer to Madrid but even if van Gaal could step in, there’s a high chance he wouldn’t stop if Ancelotti wanted him.
Chicharito’s style of play just doesn’t fit the philosophy van Gaal is pushing onto his players. He’s a poacher, a striker who plays on the shoulder of the last defender and when he has the service he can be a great goalscorer but that’s not the role van Gaal wants his striker to play in the current set-up.
United fans will never forget the goals which Chicharito scored for the club but this summer is the right time for him to end his affiliation to the club and move on.
