Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp was non-committal when asked about Ilkay Gundogan’s potential move to Manchester United.
The speculation surrounding Gundogan and Man United has gathered pace recently following what was previously just rumours.
Various reports last week suggested that United had already agreed a deal with the German, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Westfalenstadion.
Klopp refused to confirm the stories and insisted that is only natural for his best players to be linked with other clubs.
Speaking about Gundogan, Klopp said: ”It’s normal that players are linked with other clubs, especially here. But it does not interrupt our focus on the game.”
United had long been linked with Gundogan when David Moyes was in charge of the club but the rumours died down following the player’s extended absence from football due to a back injury.
Seemingly out of nowhere, the reports have got fans excited about the prospect of him playing at Old Trafford. Mobile with an excellent range of passing, Gundogan would provide some quality depth in United’s midfield, meaning Wayne Rooney wouldn’t have to fill in there like he did against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
