Manchester United are set to announce details today about their plans for this summer’s pre-season tour of USA with a press conference for the International Champions Cup at 14:00 GMT.
Based out of Seattle, Man United will embark on a two week tour of USA’s west cost and will play four matches on the way. Other cities which are believed to be stops on the tour are the likes of Portland, San Francisco and San Diego.
This year’s tour is going to be much more in line with Louis van Gaal‘s plans and what sort of preparations he wants to have with his squad ahead of the new season, something he didn’t feel he had last year due to the excessive travel United’s squad had to do in their three week tour.
On the tour, United will once again take part in the International Champions Cup which includes the likes of Paris St Germain, Barccelona and Chelsea, where van Gaal will be hoping to hold onto the title United won last time around.
United’s tours over the last few years have been expansive and exhaustive. Players and staff have had to hop around countries in short spaces of time in order to meet corporate requirements but van Gaal has put a cap on that this year, forcing the club to change their plans and put the players first this time around which should only benefit them.
