Louis van Gaal set to drastically change Manchester United team following Everton defeat – report

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is set to make five changes to his side following the disappointing 3-0 defeat against Everton last weekend, according to the Mirror.

Van Gaal was incensed with his players after the game and gave Antonio Valencia and Daley Blind a dressing down at Man United’s Carrington training ground on Monday.

Both players face the axe for their poor displays at Goodison Park along with Juan Mata and Paddy McNairWayne Rooney also put in a poor performance but van Gaal will be forced to leave him out due to injury anyway.

In their place, Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Robin van Persie, Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo may come into the team.

It would be a gamble from van Gaal given the fact that players such as Mata and Blind did so well during a recent six-game winning streak but the 63-year-old has shown during his time in charge of United that he demands perfection from his players. Any less and they should be prepared to face the consequences.

Van Gaal is meticulous in his preparation and would have been angry to see his team play so poorly against Everton given how well they did at Stamford Bridge the week before but with Liverpool losing to Hull City, it hasn’t taken too much of a dent in United’s top four hopes.

That being said, van Gaal will want an immediate response with a win over West Brom on Saturday.
