Pereira was handed his Premier League debut in the 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in March after impressing in the youth ranks.
However, the youngster’s contract runs out at the end of the season and a new deal hasn’t been forthcoming.
Despite the complicated situation, Pereira hopes he will get a chance to impress in the final four games of the campaign.
Speaking about his hopes for the future, Pereira said: ”I think I’m working hard every day and doing my best on the pitch.
“Hopefully, I can continue this form. I can play attacking midfield, on the left wing or right wing. I think these are my best positions and, to get everything out of myself, I have to play in these positions.
“The coaches tell me I have to be further up the pitch because I can score goals as well. We have other players in our team who can do the more defensive jobs.
“I know I can get a chance [in the first team] and I want another chance and the next step.”
Pereira clearly has bundles of talent but the importance of United’s fixtures meant it was always unlikely that he was going to be given an opportunity.
Now that Champions League football is all but secured, the 19-year-old can expect to feature in the coming weeks. United have a long history of bringing through young talent and Pereira has a huge future ahead of him. Hopefully he signs a new deal so he can spend it at United.
