Andreas Pereira has signed a new three-year contract which will keep him at Manchester United until at least June 2018.
The 19-year-old has broken through into the first-team this season having made his senior debut against MK Dons earlier in the year before being making his Premier League bow at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
Louis van Gaal clearly sees great potential in Pereira and speaking about his new deal, the Belgian born midfielder made it clear he felt United was the perfect place for him to develop,
“I am pleased to have signed my new contract,” Pereira said.
“I would like to thank the manager for giving me the opportunity to join the first-team squad. I made my Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur and to play at Old Trafford in front of so many fans was a dream come true.
“I am at the right club to continue my development as a player and to learn as much as I can. I want to thank my family and God for the opportunity he has given me.”
It’s great news to see Pereira committing his long-term future to the club because it shows he has great belief in van Gaal and what he is trying to achieve as United boss.
Like so many great youngsters before him such as Patrick Kluivert, Andres Iniesta and Thomas Muller, Pereira has placed his faith in van Gaal and looking ahead to next season he’ll be pushing for his place in the starting XI.
