Louis van Gaal keen to convert Adnan Januzaj into a striker – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United plan to keep Adnan Januzaj at the club next season and will look to mould him into a centre-forward, according to MailOnline.

Reports earlier this week suggested Man United were willing to let the Belgian leave on loan in order to get regular first-team action.

However, these reports appear to be wide of the mark as Louis van Gaal has made it clear to Januzaj that he is part of the club’s long-term future.

As part of his plans, van Gaal will look to play Januzaj in a central role rather than his usual spot out wide.

The 20-year-old will be given an opportunity to showcase his talent in the role on United’s pre-season tour of the United States of America before the start of next season.

With Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao both facing uncertain futures at United it makes sense for van Gaal to explore the possibility of playing Januzaj up front.

Although he has struggled over the course of this campaign, Januzaj clearly has enough talent to do well there. Van Gaal has also adapted Ashley Young’s and Juan Mata’s roles this season to good effect and there is no reason why he can’t do the same with Januzaj.
