Robin van Persie made a long awaited return to the Manchester United starting line-up against West Brom, but missed the penalty which cost his side dear.
However, it would be unfair to pin the loss solely at the Dutchman’s boots, in the first half, he made good runs and looked much fitter than before his injury.
Unfortunately for Van Persie, his removal from the team sparked an upturn in form, but recent injury problems ensured he returned to the side today.
He tested West Brom’s defence and their goalkeeper several times throughout the match, but his penalty miss will be the main memory United fans take away from the match.
Van Persie has been really good in midfield. Some top class forward passes to Fellaini. United still awaiting THAT moment.

Van Persie best player on the pitch by far. Hope he gets a goal.

Despite that, it was at least refreshing to see the striker look more interested and certainly fitter than he has at times this season, and he may be vital if United are to end a run of three games without a goal.
With his future still up in the air, there’s every chance Van Persie knows he is now playing for his Old Trafford future.
