Luke Shaw’s return allows Daley Blind to return in midfield

Luke Shaw and Daley Blind are both available to play in Manchester United’s game against Crystal Palace this weekend.

The 19-year-old defender has been in and out of the team in recent weeks which has forced Blind to play in the left-back role when he returned from injury.

With Michael Carrick already ruled out, it meant Ander Herrera had to adopt a deeper role and Wayne Rooney had to drop in to cover. All in all, it threw United’s team completely out of shape.

Although Carrick is ruled out for the season, the return of Blind and Shaw to their favoured positions will give United a much more balanced starting XI for the tough game against Crystal Palace this weekend.

United’s run of six consecutive wins came off the back of a consistent starting XI and relatively little injury problems but as is the case in football, that fortune was short lived and three losses in a row immediately followed that great run of form.

However, United are in much better shape for their trip to Palace thanks to Shaw’s return from fitness and although the team isn’t at full strength, it should be a much stronger team unit than the one who lost to West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
