Angelo Henriquez has confirmed he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season and sign a five-year contract with Dinamo Zagreb.
Speaking on Chilean radio station Tele 13, Henriquez revealed the news which indicates Zagreb will take up the buy option which was included as part of his season long loan spell.
After a fantastic season with Zagreb in which Henriquez scored 20 goals in 22 league appearances, many United fans wondered whether he would be given an opportunity by Louis van Gaal at Man United.
Earlier this year, Henriquez had spoken of wanting a chance at United but it now looks like that will never come and he will leave the club before even making one senior appearance.
It would be a shame to see Henriquez leave without being offered the opportunity to impress Van Gaal, especially when you consider how much change there could be with United’s strikers this summer.
What it would indicate is that Van Gaal has his eyes elsewhere in terms of his strikers next year but whether that is on a new signing, keeping Radamel Falcao or something else entirely remains to be seen.
Henriquez has bags of potential and really showed his goalscoring touch this year at Zagreb but it hasn’t been enough to earn him a spot in Van Gaal’s squad.
