Pictures: Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester United

Manchester United returned to winning ways with a much needed victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

Exactly one week on from a disappointing and frustrating defeat to West Brom, United squeezed past Palace with a 2-1 victory, with goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini.

United rode their luck at times, but might feel the way their two goals came about was justification for the way last week’s match unfolded.

Despite complaints from the hosts, Mata put United ahead from the penalty spot after Scott Dann handled Ashley Young‘s cross.

A second deflected free-kick in the space of a week saw Palace level the score, but a fantastic save from David de Gea kept United in the match.

With a once again makeshift defence under pressure due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling, United had to dig deep, but eventually took the lead through Marouane Fellaini and held on for a vital victory.
