Manchester United youngster Callum Evans looks set to sign a new contract with the club today and will take the next step towards the first-team.
Evans made the step-up to Man United’s U21s back in October 2014 and this new deal means he’ll get more of an opportunity to impress Warren Joyce enough to catch Louis van Gaal‘s attention.
Having been at the club since he was 14, Evans has worked his way right through the ranks and will be keen to push forward and try to force his way into Joyce’s U21s on a regular basis.
Evans will join the likes of Blackett, McNair and Pereira as another youngster who has signed a new deal this year.
Speaking back in October, Evans said he was looking forward to earning himself some opportunities under Van Gaal.
“The new manager has given a lot of opportunities and Tyler [Blackett], for instance, is doing well,” he said.
“As a young player, you just hope for that opportunity. Of course, the first aim is to get into the Under-21 side regularly.
“It was a good feeling to come off the bench and help change the game against Manchester City in the final. We came away with the victory and I felt part of the team.
“Of course, you’re still part of the team when you’re not involved but you don’t quite get the same sense of accomplishment.”
After this new contract, the next step for Evans is to try and earn a regular spot in Man United’s U21s.
