Manchester United are close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Gareth Bale, according to the Sunday Express’ John Richardson.
Bale has endured a torrid season at the Bernabeu and has regularly been booed by his own fans following a number of poor performances.
Man United are said to be aware of the Welshman’s situation and are preparing a big money move as a result.
Speaking on MUTV ahead of the Champions League semi-final between Madrid and Juventus on Wednesday, Richardson was adamant that a deal between United and Bale was close.
Speaking about the potential transfer, Richardson said: “I think it’s almost a done deal to be honest.
“I know somebody very close to Gareth Bale and the public are not hearing the real thing.
“He’s very unhappy there and he’s unhappy with his treatment.”
The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden later echoed these sentiments and expressed his belief that Bale will look for a return to the Premier League as his wife and children live in the UK.
It is a remarkable revelation if true and one that will fill fans with excitement. Bale is a fantastic player who would go a long way towards making United a force at home and in Europe once again. However, supporters will know nothing is certain until the player signs on the dotted line.
