Man Utd’s potential 4-3-3 vs Arsenal – Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw start

by Ben Topliss

The injuries that Wayne Rooney and Luke Shaw sustained against Crystal Palace last weekend would have been bitter blows to both players as Manchester United head into the final few games of the season.

Both Rooney and Shaw aren’t the type of players that sit out a game unless they absolutely have to so they will be eager to recover in time for Arsenal on Sunday.

Shaw, in particular, has added reason to finish the campaign strongly given his injury troubles this term.

Louis van Gaal will give the pair every chance to start the match and the Dutchman will be hoping they both line up at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately, Michael Carrick has been ruled out for the rest of the season so Daley Blind will need to make the defensive midfield position his own against the Gunners.

Angel di Maria was also reportedly spotted on crutches last weekend and he may be forced to sit out United’s remaining fixtures.

It’s a disappointing situation for the Argentine but his pain is Juan Mata’s gain as he should be able to continue his fine form on the right hand side of United’s attacking trio.
