Ed Woodward does not expect Memphis Depay to be Manchester United’s only signing this summer.
The 21-year-old will complete his move to the club this week after he has undergone a medical and will become the eighth signing of Louis van Gaal‘s reign as manager.
Six new arrivals came to Old Trafford last summer and Victor Valdes joined the club on a free transfer in January but with United’s squad still in need of investment in key areas, Van Gaal is expected to once again be very busy in the transfer window.
Depay gives United some extra strength on the flanks but there is a real need for at least one centre-back and centre-midfielder in the current squad.

When you then also consider that United will be back in the Champions League next year, the demands on Van Gaal’s squad are going to be even greater which only makes it more important for that investment in the summer.
A whole host of players are continuously linked with Man United such as Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan, so it is hard to judge who is actually going to be signed but one thing is clear – United are going to heavily invest once again this summer.
