No sooner after reports from Andy Mitten suggested David de Gea has refused to sign a deal worth £200,000 a week at Manchester United, MARCA in Spain are no saying a deal to bring the goalkeeper to Real Madrid has already been agreed.
MARCA say De Gea will sign on a five or six year contract and be paid €5m per year and say that Man United want €40m for the transfer.
The 24-year-old’s future has been a big story in MARCA all season long and United fans will look at the pro-Madrid newspaper with a sceptical eye but the general consensus is a case of when, not if, De Gea will leave the club.
With the summer fast approaching and De Gea’s new United contract looking no closer to being signed, fans have quickly come to the realisation that Sunday’s game against Arsenal could be his final game at Old Trafford for the club.
It’s sad to think that a club as big as United have to accept that one of their best players will leave in the summer but it’s always a risk you take when you sign somebody who isn’t English.
Moving home to Madrid to live with his girlfriend is something De Gea has probably long thought about and it seems that is going to happen sooner than any United fan wanted it to.
