Louis van Gaal isn’t one to give much information away about transfers and today he was asked by reporters in his pre-match press conference about rumours linking Gareth Bale and Harry Kane to Manchester United.
Bale has been linked ever since there was a hint of frustration among Real Madrid’s supporters earlier this season when the Welshman put in some lacklustre performances.
As for Kane, these rumours have appeared in the last 24 hours and have surprised almost every Man United fan given that a £45m price-tag has been attached.
When asked about Kane and Bale, Van Gaal responded in typical fashion and even had time to crack a joke with the press: “You can mention a lot of names, I have seen that I buy everyone in the world but it is not like that!”
Bale, Kane, Gundogan, Hummels, Laporte, Alves and many more. The list of players linked to United every year is endless but as Van Gaal says, hardly any end up completing a move.
With Kane, the prices quoted are ridiculous and Van Gaal almost certainly would have no intention of paying that price for him but will undoubtedly be in the market for a new striker, so the Kane rumours are likely to continue.
It’s going to be another busy summer of ins and outs at Old Trafford, so expect rumours to continue linking Bale, Kane and plenty of other players with moves to United
