Arsene Wenger expects Manchester United to be active in the transfer market and has insisted every player he is being offered are already being chased by Man United.
Even before the season has finished, United have been active in the transfer window and Memphis Depay is set to complete his move to the club early next week.
The 21-year-old is likely to be the first of many new signings coming through the doors at Old Trafford this year as part of Louis van Gaal‘s attempts to build a squad worthy of challenging for trophies once again.
The likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Paulo Dybala are two names who have both been linked with United and Arsenal in the current transfer window and speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, Wenger indicated there are certainly some common transfer targets between the clubs.
He said: “I expect Man United to be active in the transfer market. Every player I am offered, Man United are already on his case!”
Wenger also praised Van Gaal as a coach and believes he has what it takes to be manager of United: “He [Van Gaal] has shown that he has the personality to be at a club of that size. We expect them to buy some strong players.”
Next year is going to be very interesting for both Arsenal and United. Under Van Gaal, things have improved and he has hit his top four objective this season which means going into next year the objective is simple – win the Premier League.
As for Arsenal, they have always managed to get into the top four but consistently fail to build on that and mount on a title challenge which lasts for the full season.
With a big summer head for United and Arsenal, success in the transfer window could determine how next season goes for both sides.
