In a perfect world, David de Gea would turn down Real Madrid to stay at Manchester United and everyone would be happy.
In reality, it looks increasingly likely that the Spaniard will return to his homeland, leaving Man United with the task of finding his replacement.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of weeks but reports on Tuesday suggested United are also considering bringing in Chelsea keeper Petr Cech.
We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on who they would prefer out of the two:
@PeoplesPerson_ cech, then bring in a younger keeper to compete with him, like barcelona with ter stegen

@PeoplesPerson_ Lloris. No question. Chech not nearly as good since injury, and don't think we can afford an 'experiment' in that area.

@PeoplesPerson_ Cech all day long.

@peoplesperson_ Lloris! He is younger than Cech. And we already have the experience of Valdes for champions league. #Mufc

@PeoplesPerson_ Cech for me. Less prone to mistakes, and he's the same age we signed Van der Saar at.

@PeoplesPerson_ I would pick Cech. Lloris is too much like Barthez too rash with decision making imo. Also quite short for a keeper

Cech undoubtedly retains the quality to play at the highest level despite losing his no.1 spot to Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge this season.
Meanwhile, 28-year-old Lloris may be a better long-term option as he is yet to enter his prime.
Perhaps van Gaal will prefer Cech’s distribution, as United have often played out from the back over the course of the campaign. Lloris is a superb shot-stopper but isn’t the best with the ball at his feet.
