Everton are keen on Manchester United centre-back Jonny Evans and could bring him to the club in a deal worth up to £10m, according to the Mirror.
Evans has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, with a lack of fitness and form contributing to a limited amount of opportunities in the starting XI this term.
The Northern Irishman was also banned for six-games earlier in the campaign for spitting on Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse.
Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo are ahead of Evans in the pecking order and the 27-year-old may be sacrificed in order to make room in the squad.
The simple fact is that Evans has not been good enough at any point this season.
Evans has given United years of loyal service but there can be no room for sentiment when it comes to taking the club forward in the future. Louis van Gaal will accept nothing less than perfection and Evans is unlikely to provide that.
