Manchester United have reached a contractual agreement with Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi over a summer transfer, according to Argentinian outlet Diario Olé.
The reports say a preliminary agreement has been reached between Otamendi and Man United, rather than a final one between the clubs, and that he would not move until after taking part in the 2015 Copa America which ends on July 4.
Otamendi, who has a €50m release clause, has been in fine form for Valencia this season and is widely considered to have been one of the best centre-backs in European football.
Any move for Otamendi would hinge on whether a compromise could be found over his valuation as United may not be willing to pay the full €50m for the 27-year-old.
Reports linking Otamendi to United are not new. Only a few days ago, Sky Sports’ Guillem Balague suggested United were after him.
On Otamendi. Sources close to the player say his dream is to go to the PL and United will continue trying to get him. Valencia pesimistic

Following reports from Diario Olé, Super Deporte, a local Valencia based outlet, published a story saying Otamendi was happy at the club and wanted to commit his future to them.
So, as always, there are two voices to this transfer story and it will no doubt develop over the coming weeks.
It goes without saying that United need to sign a new centre-back this summer and Otamendi is certainly one of the prime candidates in a market where available world class defenders are a rare commodity.
