Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera wants to keep improving despite recording his best-ever goals return for a season.
Herrera has been superb over the course of the campaign and is quickly establishing himself as a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford.
Herrera thanked fans for their continued support and insisted he will be looking to continue his fine form next season.
“I came to a massive club and everyone has made me feel like I am at home, so I am very grateful to everyone,” he said.
“I can only say our supporters are fantastic, they have made me feel unbelievable. When we did not play so good, they were supporting us so I am thankful for that.
“It has been a tough season, a lot of change at the club and a lot of change in the squad, but I am happy with my development. Of course I have to keep improving and keep going, but eight goals for a midfielder is a good stat. I am an ambitious player so I want to keep improving. There are 25 players in the squad and I have to fight a lot if I want to play.”
Herrera really has been a revelation this term. Composed and intelligent, the Spaniard often finds his teammates with a range of superb passing.
United have looked their best when he and Michael Carrick have lined up together but unfortunately the latter has been injured for large parts of this season. It is understandable why van Gaal wants to add some quality depth to his squad as a result.
