Angel di Maria fit to play for Argentina in Copa America – report

by Richard Laverty

Manchester United’s club record signing Angel Di Maria will be fit to go and join up with his international teammates for next month’s Copa America.

There had been concerns from Argentina that Di Maria would miss the tournament after an injury curtailed his final appearance of the season against Hull on Sunday

Despite initial reports Di Maria had suffered some muscular injuries after an early collision,Van Gaal said he went off with a hamstring complaint

Argentine journalist Arevalo Martin was the man to confirm Di Maria will indeed be ready for Copa America, writing on his Twitter account: “Angel Di Maria suffered only a hit. They did studies and there is no muscle injuries. It will soon be in Argentina.

Whilst United supporters would have hoped to have Di Maria free for the pre-season of the USA so he could get settled for the new season, it should at least delay rumours of a move away.

Fans will hope Di Maria can find some form with Argentina and come back next season and show the talent the whole world clearly knows he has.

Di Maria will join Marcos Rojo in the Argentina squad whilst Antonio Valencia will also miss the start of pre-season due to Ecuador’s participation in the tournament.
