Player Ratings: Hull City 0-0 Manchester United

by Richard Laverty

Victor Valdes 6 Experienced a few hairy moments in the air, but two top saves kept Hull at arm’s length. A debut clean sheet.

Antonio Valencia 5 Showed good pace down the right and offered United width on a day where little happened. Solid.

Chris Smalling 7 Once again United’s best defender. Has gone from strength to strength this season and has certainly ensured he’ll be in the first team next season.

Phil Jones 6 No dodgy moments today, for a change. Nice and solid alongside Smalling and marshalled Hull’s aerial threat relatively well.

Marcos Rojo 5 Didn’t offer a great deal down the left, linked well with Di Maria until his international colleague went off injured.

Daley Blind 5 Another solid if unspectacular showing. Did well in midfield, neat passing as usual, decent first season.

Ander Herrera 6 Probably the liveliest in United’s attack. Had chances which were squandered but looked one of few who weren’t yet on their holidays.

Ashley Young 4 Didn’t flourish in a less conventional central midfield role, stifled his recent good form. Was brought off for Fellaini after an hour.

Juan Mata 5 Rarely influenced the game as United struggled to create many meaningful chances. Did manage some neat work for a Herrera chance.

Angel Di Maria N/A Disappointing for him. Only managed 20 minutes after taking a few early knocks, was replaced by Januzaj.

Wayne Rooney 4 Really struggled up front today, nothing was created for him, hit the bar early on and that was his only chance.

Adnan Januzaj 5 Lively. Made a few good runs and some killer passes, still hasn’t hit the heights of his debut season and may be in for a loan.

Marouane Fellaini N/A Came on fleetingly but was sent off for an ugly challenge on former red Paul McShane.

James Wilson N/A Had little chance to make an impact but a welcome return to first team action.
