Antonio Valencia has successfully undergone surgery on an undisclosed injury following the end of the Premier League season.
The South American winger posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed after surgery, indicated there were no problems with the operation and thanked his family for their support.
It comes as a big surprise for Man United fans to see Valencia having an operation as there had been no mention of any injury from Louis van Gaal or Valencia himself.
There has still been no clarification on why Valencia had the surgery but whatever the reason, it’s good to see it went ahead successfully and without complications.
Much had been said all season about Valencia’s performances at right-back.
While the 29-year-old was defensively disciplined, his lack of attacking movement was criticised by fans who were used to see the powerful runs of Rafael from that position.
However, if Valencia had been playing this season with an injury which had been covered up until the end of the campaign, it could go some way to explaining his reserved performances in attack.
