Hernandez charged with violent conduct after punching Jones

Hull City’s Abel Hernández has been charged for punching Phil Jones in the stomach during the game against Manchester United this weekend.

The incident taking place in the 70th minute of the goalless draw between the Tigers and Man United and went unpunished during the game.

It’s certainly the right decision to charge Hernandez given that the footage clearly shows him punching Jones in the stomach, much to the surprise of United’s centre-back who collapsed to the floor straight after.

Hernandez has been charged with violent conduct and as none of the match officials at noticed the incident, a panel of three former elite referees will independently judge the situation.

If all of the three panel members believe it was a sending-off offence, the Uruguayan attacker will miss the first three games of the Championship 15/16 season, should he remain at the KC Stadium.

Hernández has until 6pm on Wednesday 27 May to reply to the charge.
