Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has slammed comments from Nicolas Otamendi’s agent and insisted the club would not be pressured into any transfer deal by anybody.
Otamendi’s agent said he was pushing for an exit from Valencia this summer and clubs were interested in his signature.
On the contrary, Salvo has completely dismissed any notion that Valencia had received any offers or any communication from interested parties and told Otamendi to hand in a transfer request if he wanted to leave the club.
“Valencia listens to no rumors or pressure from any agent or comments,” Salvo said.
“In the end, the position of Valencia will always be the same. If he wants to leave Valencia, he should tell us personally and not an intermediary that he wants to leave.
“What matters is that Otamendi is worth at least €50 million. We are thrilled with him and I would like him to finish his contract. Valencia has not received any offers. We’ve had no communication from any interested clubs but I insist that he is worth at least €50 million.”
Quickly, Otamendi’s situation in Valencia has become rather sour.
Salvo is directly accusing the Argentinian and his representatives of attempting to pressure the club into letting him leave but there is a clear message now.
If Otamendi does indeed want to leave then he has to hand in a transfer request and any interested party would have to pay his full €50m release clause. Over to you, Ed Woodward.
