Former Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao is ‘desperate’ to join Chelsea, according to the Telegraph.
The news comes after United decided not to renew the Colombian’s contract following a disappointing stint at Old Trafford. In a season riddled by injuries and poor form, the forward only managed to score four goals at the club.
Following his first taste of Premier League football, Falcao now wants to stay in England and could be seen as a potential replacement for Didier Drogba at Chelsea.
In order for the 29-year-old to continue his Premier League career, there have to be some changes. He would have to take a significant wage cut but Falcao is said to be happy to consider a lower pay packet.
Jose Mourinho shares the same agent as Falcao and one would imagine this puts Chelsea ahead of the other big clubs in England.
Arsenal did show an interest last August, but it is unlikely that they will be pursuing him again this summer.
The question is, has Falcao still got what it takes? Whilst his previous form would suggest not, the 29-year-old will be relieved of the pressure he faced at United and the expectation that came with it.
