Manchester United keeper David de Gea has been voted by fans into the 2014/15 Best XI of the Year at the inaugural Facebook Football Awards.
The Spaniard is widely considered to be one of the best in the world right now having rescued Man United on a number of occasions this year with a string of superb saves.
De Gea recently retained the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year honours at United’s end-of-season awards.
He joins the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic, Santi Cazorla, Harry Kane and Diego Costa in the Facebook team.
Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for De Gea and it would be devastating for fans if he was to go following what has been a highly successful spell at Old Trafford.
The hope for supporters is that the 24-year-old is put off by how Iker Casillas and Gareth Bale have been treated at Madrid this term.
Following a few average performances, fans at the Bernabeu turned on the pair and even went so far as to attack Bale’s car following an El Clasico defeat earlier this year.
