Nicolas Gaitan to Manchester United? Again? Really?
The 27-year-old Argentine has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for what seems like the millionth time this week.
Along with Wesley Sneijder and Ezequiel Garay, Gaitan seems to have ‘agreed’ a transfer to Man United every year.
It has almost got to the point where fans have stopped discussing his merits as a player. We asked our Twitter followers if, in some crazy alternate reality, they would be happy with Gaitan if United signed him:
@PeoplesPerson_ No, quite old. And not the best we can get.

@PeoplesPerson_ A good majority of players that are signed from Benfica end up being bad so I'm alright

@PeoplesPerson_ No. Not good enough. Aim higher. Luckily it will never happen

@PeoplesPerson_ Not at all. Unless LVG is deciding to play a team full of wingers next season.. Then maybe.. (?) He was good. "Was"

@PeoplesPerson_ I'm not even sure he's a real person

@PeoplesPerson_ funny thing is, the ones criticizing Gaitan never watch him play, he'd be good in the pl but we don't need him

@PeoplesPerson_ I'd be happy for right price. He seems a lot more tenacious than we have, which will suit the premier league.

Of course, it is unlikely that the transfer will ever happen but Gaitan would not be the worst addition in the world.
A couple of years ago, the attacking midfielder was considered to be one of the brightest talents in Europe.
However, United now have plenty of options in his position. Players such as Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini, Wayne Rooney and Angel di Maria are all capable of playing there and the club would be wise to prioritise other areas of the squad.
