Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo have both been included in Argentina’s final 23-man squad for the 2015 Copa America tournament this summer.
Both Manchester United players have had fitness issues over the last few weeks and Di Maria was considered a doubt having come off during the last game of the season against Hull City with what looked like a hamstring problem.
However, he has seemingly overcome his troubles and been named by Argentina boss Gerardo Martino in his squad.
From United’s perspective, seeing Di Maria included in the squad is bad news and fans are understandably concerned.
He really could have done with a break away from football following a very indifferent season but now has to take part in what is likely to be a high tempo tournament in Chile. Given his fitness issues all last season, Di Maria is far more likely to pick up another injury.
As for Rojo, he’ll be happy with the inclusion and will come into the tournament with good memories having been a key figure in Argentina’s run all the way to the World Cup final.
All of United’s South American players will miss the pre-season tour due to their inclusion in the Copa America.
