Radamel Falcao has emerged as a summer transfer target for Chelsea, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The 29-year-old returned to AS Monaco after Louis van Gaal decided not to extend his one-year loan at Manchester United following a very disappointing campaign in which he only scored four goals.
Due to financial problems, Monaco are unlikely to keep Falcao this summer and Chelsea could be a possible destination for the Colombian striker.
Di Marzio reports that Jose Mourinho appreciates Falcao’s qualities and that talks have already started between the parties to scope out what a potential deal could entail.
Man United fans would be more than unhappy if Falcao was to complete a move to Chelsea, based simply on the fact there is the possibility he could turn his career round and once again become the goalscoring sensation which earned him a move to Old Trafford in the first place.
With a strong pre-season under his belt and a long period without injury, next season could see a renaissance for Falcao if it goes well for him and it would be terrible to see that happen at Chelsea.
At this stage, it seems it has not gone any further than talks to discuss a potential deal but from the perspective of United fans, hopefully Falcao moves to a club outside of the Premier League as it would be hard to stomach if he re-found his form and helped a rival win the Premier League title.
