Chelsea wrapped up the Premier League title in emphatic fashion this season, securing it with three games to play and finishing eight points ahead of Manuel Pellegrini’s second-placed Manchester City.
Their dominance was reflected in the end-of-season awards where Eden Hazard and Jose Mourinho were crowned Player of the Year and Manager of the Year respectively.
Ferguson heaped praise on his former adversary and believes the Portuguese tactician had the best squad in the Premier League which helped him win the title.
“He’s a successful man, a winner,” he said.
“He deserves the award. I thought he had the best squad. John Terry played every game.”
Ferguson also boldly predicted that the next few years are going to be very successful for the London outfit since the present Chelsea squad is extremely well settled and that Mourinho knows his squad very well.
He added: “Champions will always be the ones to beat. Jose knows his squad well. He’s settled. It’s going to be a very successful few years for Chelsea.”
Louis van Gaal is expected to mount a title challenge with United next season and the signings the club makes in the summer transfer window will play a big part in determining whether that title challenge will bear fruition or not. Although, there is no doubt that Chelsea will be standing tall in the way of United and the title, as suggested by Fergie.
