Sergio Ramos has continued what is likely to be a summer long charm offensive aimed at David de Gea from Real Madrid’s players.
De Gea has been linked with a move to Madrid all season and now that the summer transfer window is underway, Madrid’s players are going to be all too keen to talk about De Gea.
Speaking in Spain ahead of their international fixtures, Ramos labelled De Gea as an ‘amazing goalkeeper’ who is no longer a long-term prospect but one who is taking the headlines right now.
“He is no longer a long-term prospect but a current performer. In that sense it is good that he performs in his team, so that he performs for Spain. We’ve been hearing about him coming to Real Madrid but in respect for Iker, Keylor + Pacheco that’s all I can say.
“I always enjoy playing with the best. I’ve always said Real Madrid has the best players but making remarks of a player that doesn’t belong to the club would be disrespectful.”
We were expecting quotes like this to start emerging and now they have.
After all, if Spain’s players are ready to put a Barcelona shirt on Cesc Fabregas, they’re more than happy to tap up a player with some comments.
Ramos is clearly a comedian as well. He ended his remarks on De Gea by stating it would be disrespectful to say remarks about a player who doesn’t belong to Madrid.
Casillas and Ramos have now both done their part to help woo De Gea to the Santiago Bernabeu and they certainly won’t be the last this summer.
