Inter Milan lead race for Manchester United’s Nani – report

Inter Milan are leading the chase to sign Manchester United winger Nani, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

It is claimed former Man City boss Roberto Mancini sees the Portuguese international as a worthy addition to his squad’s options on the flanks and is preparing a bid of £7million.

His squad is lacking quality from wide positions and needs somebody to play opposite Xherdan Shaqiri, a role Nani has played throughout his whole career.

The winger returned to his former club Sporting Lisbon this past season as part of the Marcos Rojo deal after being deemed surplus to requirements by Louis Van Gaal and had a successful season.

He managed seven goals in 27 appearances including this thunderbolt against Gil Vicente but his high salary demands mean any permanent move to Sporting is unlikely.

The winger has had a very hit-and-miss career at United since joining in 2007 having shown glimpses of world class ability in between long periods of under par performances.

A player who is capable of the spectacular but largely delivers frustration is available this summer to the right bidder. Given the signing of Memphis Depay and the existing options in the squad with Di Maria, Young and Januzaj, United are well stocked in that department.
