The Daily Star reports that United officials will look to sign Schneiderlin if their pursuit of Schweinsteiger is not successful. A senior United official has allegedly confirmed the interest: “Yes, we are interested in Morgan but no deal is imminent.”
The paper goes on to say Schneiderlin’s representatives have been informed that United have interest in the player, alongside Arsenal and Tottenham, and would look to open transfer negotiations with a £20million bid.
Louis van Gaal‘s desire to sign a No.6 midfielder this summer should certainly lead him to at least look at Schneiderlin and if these reports are indeed correct, Van Gaal has already got the wheels in motion for a move.
The Star also claims that Ronald Koeman is a fan of Javier Hernandez, who looks to be returning to United after a season on loan at Real Madrid, and would be keen to include the Mexican striker in any potential deal taking Schneiderlin to Old Trafford.
Schneiderlin would be a great addition to the squad after another outstanding season with Southampton and having established himself in the French national team. He is creative, yet industrious and would give United options in the deeper midfield position, which would take pressure off the ageing Michael Carrick.
