Jurgen Klopp’s friend and ex-colleague Eckhard Krautzun has revealed the German manager has a desire to manage Manchester United at some point.
Krautzun worked alongside Klopp at Mainz and it’s very interesting to hear what he has to say about the 47-year-old’s future.
Louis van Gaal has two more years left on his current deal which would pave the way for Klopp at United, something which would clearly tick a lot more boxes.
“Jurgen speaks English,” he said.
“And since we spoke about United. He once told me, that one day, when it does not fit with Dortmund any more, Manchester United would be his club.
“But at this moment the job is taken. Klopp would fit perfectly to an English club that is well lead and well organised.
“One which has a very good board of directors. A club with one person reigning, like Chelsea, would not be right for him.”
Prior to Van Gaal’s appointment as United manager, many fans considered Klopp to be first on their list of potential managers.
Those same fans will be delighted to hear these revealing comments which certainly indicate Klopp would be more than happy to take over from Van Gaal.
On paper, it sounds idyllic. Van Gaal spearheading United for three years, guiding the club through its toughest period since the 1980s, before handing over to Klopp is one hell of a potential partnership and one that is a far cry from David Moyes.
