Manchester United fans finally got a chance to see Memphis Depay in action last night during the Netherlands’ international friendly against USA.
The 21-year-old started on the left flank and would no doubt have understood how many were watching the game just to see how he played. He didn’t disappoint.
Depay was such a danger to USA’s defence right from the first whistle and was rewarded for his endeavours when Klaas-Jan Huntelaar got on the end of an excellent cross to give Netherlands a 1-0 lead.
As the first half continued, Depay continued to threaten and he put in so many excellent crosses which unfortunately led to nothing.
The second half saw a more muted performance from Depay, much like his whole team, but he’ll be pleased with how he got on in the first half, as will fans:
Depay and in-form Di Maria will tear defences apart. #excitingtimes #mufc

Depay living up to all expectations so far. Having fun vs USA's right-back.

Depay might not have known much about the goal he scored but overall he certainly deserved a man of the match nomination.
Fans were excited as soon as a deal to sign Depay was announced and that was before many had ever watched him in action. Now that he has put in that sort of performance, the anticipation is only going to continue growing.
