Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has suggested Real Madrid may have to wait a year to sign Manchester United’s David de Gea if they don’t get him this summer.
De Gea has been strongly linked with a move to Madrid for a number of months now following a series of sensational performances at Old Trafford.
His agent Jorge Mendes is due to have a meeting with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and that’s something which will certainly concern United fans.
Man United are said to be reluctant to sell the Spaniard, who is entering the final year of his contract, as they would only receive a nominal fee.
According to Balague, Madrid may wait until next summer to sign De Gea as he will be available as a free agent.

Speaking about the situation, Balague said: “De Gea is playing it cool. He would like his future to be sorted this summer.
“But in any case, Real Madrid are thinking that if they can’t get him this summer, they’ll get him at the end of his contract. It will be one of the sagas of the summer, I’m sure.”
De Gea is currently one of the best goalkeepers in the world so to lose him on a free would be a bitter blow for United fans.
However, it would be a refreshing change to see the club play hardball with the player’s situation. De Gea clearly has his heart set on Madrid but he has a contract with United. Considering the club have made him into the keeper he is today, he should be made to honour it.
