For Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, the future looks bleak.
The Mexican spent last season on loan at Real Madrid but struggled to make an impact at the Bernabeu and was regularly left on the substitute’s bench by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Hernandez recently returned to Old Trafford after Madrid decided not to exercise an option to keep him but there is a huge question mark over whether or not he will remain at Man United.
We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on what they would do with the player:
@PeoplesPerson_ let him go . Not technically good enough with the ball at his feet to play for United IMO

@PeoplesPerson_ If we get a good fee, then sell. But having him for squad depth wouldn't be too bad.

@PeoplesPerson_ Stay, guarantees goals!

@peoplesperson_ Sit down and talk to him about the role he'll play. Cannot assure many starts. If he can settle for that, then let him stay.

@PeoplesPerson_ keep him as a squad player as United will be playing in more competitions

@PeoplesPerson_ keep him, been poorly treated by United in my opinion. Guarantees goals from the bench.

@PeoplesPerson_ Spending money on a striker when we already have one. Keep him, play him and spend the cash elsewhere.

@PeoplesPerson_ depends on who's arriving……

It is an unfortunate situation for Hernandez given the fact that he is a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old remains a reliable goalscorer but his overall play is lacking compared to the likes of Wayne Rooney.
Louis van Gaal may well decide to keep Hernandez as a plan B but it remains to be seen whether or not the player will accept the role. If he doesn’t end up staying at United, he could certainly do a job for a mid-table team in the Premier League.
