No sooner had we discussed that it’d all gone quiet with David de Gea and his future, MARCA report that a deal to bring the Spaniard is close to being completed.
MARCA say negotiations are now in their final stages and a price of €25m plus €5m variables has already been agreed upon for De Gea to move to Real Madrid this summer from Manchester United.
Once again, not for the first time, De Gea has been afforded the front cover of MARCA and that’s because he is being touted as the first bit of business who they are looking to complete this summer.
With De Gea currently with Spain on international duty, no deal is likely to be announced this week even if it had been completed.
What do we make of all this? €25m and €5m variable add-ons would be an abomination of a transfer fee for De Gea, unless of course that includes Karim Benzema thrown in for free, but United really aren’t in too much of a position of power with negotiations so that could be difficult.
United fans have always considered De Gea’s return to Madrid this summer as somewhat of an inevitability and the latest from MARCA suggests that time is edging very close indeed.
