Reports from Italy suggest Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Dourado from Internacional.
Tutto Mercato Web have published the reports as an exclusive so the assumption is that the information is their own but Dourado has previously been linked with a move to Man United.
Back in April, there were reports which said United had sent scouts watch Dourado in action and the midfielder himself admitted it was his dream to play for one of Europe’s top clubs, name-dropping United in the process.
As he has only just broken through, not much is known about Dourado. So, we asked Brazilian journalist Lucas Sposito to give us some insight into the 20-year-old.
“Dourado is a young classy defensive midfielder,” he said.
“So classy in fact that Internacional fans often say he should play wearing a suit.
“It’s rare to see a 20-year-old starting for club who are Copa Libertadores’ title contenders but that’s what Dourado is.
“When we’re talking about deep lying midfielders in Brazil, they usually have a defensive mindset rather than one focused on passing and vision. That’s why Rodrigo only started playing regularly when the Mexican Javier Aguirre took charge of Inter.”
Breaking through and establishing yourself at the age of 20 is impressive for any midfielder and Dourado sounds like he is making a real name for himself at Internacional.
