Nani is on his way back to Old Trafford as the Portuguese winger’s Manchester United career continues to rumble on.
The Portuguese international has been out of favour since David Moyes took over at Man United and was sent to Sporting Lisbon by Moyes’ successor last season on loan where he scored seven times in 27 appearances.
Nani started his career at the Portuguese club and helped his side win the Portuguese Cup along with finishing third in the league title race.
Speaking to reporters in Portugal, Nani said: “I’ll have to show myself at Old Trafford, I want to play in a stable team and fight for titles.”
He went on to give his goodbyes to Sporting Lisbon: “I came with a positive mindset to help the club win their goals. We got the Taca de Portugal and I was happy to have won.
“Players may not think just about themselves, you must think about the collective. Looking back and seeing that we won a trophy, so we have to thank God and believe that every year may be better. It was a very positive year for me.”
The signing of Memphis Depay will push Nani further down the pecking order at United and while he possesses some exquisite talents, he has been frustrating to watch in a United jersey for quite some time now.
At only 28, Nani has plenty to offer and with Italian side Inter Milan interested, it seems as though he might be on his way to Serie A.
Some players are born to excel at Old Trafford and others just don’t quite make it and it is looking more and more likely that Nani will fall into the latter category.
