Manchester United fans have been getting excited about the potential signing of Hoffenheim’s Roberto Firmino for €30m but there is a question mark over where he’ll actually fit in at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian can play in any of the three attacking midfield positions and is also capable of doing a job up front.
Louis van Gaal is keen on versatile players so the interest in Firmino makes sense in that respect but where does he fit in the team?
We asked our Twitter followers whether or not they would be happy with the signing and where they think he’ll play:
@PeoplesPerson_ think we will play him how Brazil does! False 9

@PeoplesPerson_ remember when LvG said that he wants two quality players in every position? I think Firmino to backup Mata.

@PeoplesPerson_ Firmino comes in to seriously challenge Rooney's spot up front. He's capable of leading the line. Won't affect Mata/AdM.

@PeoplesPerson_ personally don't rate him. At times he shows poor decision making & we already have a couple of creative players in midfield

United already have the likes of Angel di Maria and Juan Mata on the books and will also welcome Memphis Depay in the coming weeks.
Therefore, it makes sense for Firmino to play up front, particularly after Radamel Falcao’s departure.
The hope for United fans is that the potential signing of Firmino isn’t the end of the club’s summer transfer business. Ideally, United would secure the signatures of a box-to-box midfielder and a defender. Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi has been linked with a move along with Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan.
