When reports from Brazil emerged and suggested Manchester Unite were going to sign Hoffenheim’s Roberto Firmino for €18m this summer, there was an explosion of conversation about him.
Not too many Man United fans had seen the 23-year-old play in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim last year but in an attacking role, he was one of their best players in what was an excellent season for him.
United hardly need strengthening directly in that position but buying players who seem superfluous hasn’t stopped United the club before – take Robin van Persie as a prime example of a club moving on
We wanted to see what United fans thought so ere’s what a few United fans had to say on the reports about Firmino:
Firmino has played left wing, right wing, as a striker and as an attacking midfielder. It would make sense, Van Gaal likes versatile players

Regardless of whether the rumours are rubbish or not, Firmino has looked great when I've seen him for Brazil. Very exciting prospect.

I like Firmino, can play as a striker and would give Rooney some kick in the ass.

If we get Firmino for £13m… Lol. But he can play up front, wide and behind the striker. Similar to what Sterling/Muller could give

Firmino? Is he better than Nani?#mufc

Whatever Firmino can do….Depay can do exactly the same, but even better. So it seems it's another lame rumour like Gaitan.

Crazy so many people haven't heard about Firmino. One of the best players in the Bundesliga.

So Firmino potentially? Bit of a come down from Pogba, Bale et al..

A mixed bag of responses of sorts but the general consensus is clear – Firminho would be a steal at the €18m figure.
Overall, United fans were happy to see the Brazilian midfielder so heavily linked with a move to the point where reports say it will be completed soon.
What do you think about the potential signing of Firminho? Please let us know in the comments.
Later today we’ll be bringing you an article with the owner of the 1899 Hoffenheim blog to offer you some insight into how he played last season.
