Man Utd transfer round-up: Depay unveiled, Kane, Dourado and Firmino all linked

Here’s the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Man United were the subject of numerous transfer stories on Friday, both official and unofficial.

Earlier in the day, speculation was rife that the club were close to agreeing deals for Brazilian midfield duo Rodrigo Dourado and Roberto Firmino.

The former is a talented prospect said to have a similar playing style to Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets while the latter was the shining light for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last term.

Fans generally warmed to the idea of the potential signings but they weren’t so keen on reports from Sky Sports News later in the afternoon suggesting that United are in for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The Mirror’s David McDonnell has gone a step further to suggest Man United are preparing a £40m bid for Kane.

Although the Englishman enjoyed a fine campaign last season, there is a question mark over whether or not he can keep up his performance levels in the long-term.

After all the speculation and rumours, it was then nice to see United officially confirm the capture of Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven. The player joins on a four-year deal, with the option of a further year. Hopefully he’s the first of many new signings at Old Trafford!
