Robert Firmino in numbers: The Bundesliga’s most creative player

Louis van Gaal has already made it clear that his midfield priority in the transfer window is to bring in a player who can slot naturally into the No.6 role in which Michael Carrick operates.

However, Memphis Depay‘s signing shows Van Gaal is keen to strengthen his attacking options as well and reports are continuing to gather in pace about another signing of that ilk – Robert Firmino.

The 23-year-old midfielder from Hoffenheim operated largely in an attacking midfield role last season and from his 33 Bundesliga appearances, Firmino scored seven goals and had an impressive ten assists. That’s a solid return.

Taking a deeper look at Firmino’s influence over the last few seasons shows us just how important he has been in the Bundesliga:

The Bundesliga boasts some of the best players in the world so it’s very impressive that he comes out on top in terms of chances created and through balls completed. In that regard, Firmino looks to be a player who can improve most sides in the Premier League.

That being said, the main question from United’s perspective is how do you fit him in? United already have the likes of Juan Mata, Ashley Young and Adnan Januzaj to operate in the attacking midfielder positions and now Memphis Depay has been thrown into the mix.

It’s hard to imagine how Van Gaal will keep all of his squad happy and Firmino if he were to join, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens if the Brazilian did join.
