Manchester United’s pursuit of Nicolas Otamendi this summer has been grabbing the headlines, so fans are keen to keep up to date with any news about him.
There’s a big spotlight right now in the Copa America for Otamendi thanks to the growing reports linking him with United but the added pressure doesn’t seem to phase him.
Otamendi was in good form for Argentina and showcased his dominant style of defending which really makes him such a good player.
Powerful, no-nonsense defending is something which United have missed terribly Nemanja Vidic left the club.
Overall, Otamendi will be happy with how he played, despite Paraguay coming back from the dead to draw level with Argentina, and fans were happy to see him in action.
What a block by Otamendi, then at the the other end Di Maria flashes a great ball across but Messi fails to convert.

Otamendi out-jumping Roque Santa Cruz. The guy leaps like a salmon. #ARGxPAR

Otamendi looks comfortable on the ball. Very composed, his passing too seems excellent. #mufc

So close at both ends! Only a huge slide from Otamendi blocks a goal-bound #PAR shot, before Messi is inches from tapping home for #ARG!

Of all the defensive transfer targets, Otamendi is the stand-out candidate for United. Having a dominant and powerful defender is something United desperately need and his added goal threat from set pieces would be a real bonus.
We’ll be watching Argentina’s progress throughout the Copa America to find out more about how Otamendi, Rojo and Di Maria get on.
