Manchester United youngster Andreas Pereira has reached the semi-final of the U20s FIFA World Cup in semi-final with Brazil.
Brazil beat Portugal 3-1 on penalties in the quarter-final as Pereira came off the bench after half time for Jean Carlos and scored his second penalty in successive games.
After beating Uruguay 5-4 on penalties in the round of 16, Brazil and Pereira had to use a penalty shootout to go through again.
Pereira was the first to step up in the shootout for Brazil and scored past Atletico Madrid’s Andre Moreira. Manchester City’s Rony Lopes scored first for Portugal but as Andre Silva, Guzzo and Nuno missed for Helio Sousa’s young Portugal side.

Louis van Gaal has backed him to be a key part of United’s future and it’s great to see him doing so well with Brazil’s U20s this summer.
The 19-year-old was very impressive for the U21s side last season at United and he was subsequently named the Denzil Haroun Reserves Player of the Year, so he’s had a fine year of progress at the club.
Pereira committed his long-term future to Man United by signing a new contract but he faces a tough task getting into the first-team next year with so much competition for places already, not to mention the new signings like Memphis Depay who will only make it even harder.
However, Pereira knew that would be the case next year and he’ll be determined to make sure he can make the most of opportunities when he is given them by Louis van Gaal.
